Here in our office, some have described Twitter as a rushing river of information. If Twitter is a river, then all the blog posts out there are an ocean of thought. If blogs are the ocean, then Google Reader is my boat. Okay, I’m done with annoying analogies. :)
With the hundreds that are out there, which are the best in terms of higher education marketing?
Here’s just a few that provide a lot of value (I apologize that many are specific to online media, but that’s what I’m all about):
http://doteduguru.com A collective blog from several higher education marketing pros who work in online media
http://blog.dojo-web.com/ and http://www.karlynmorissette.com/ Both by Karlyn Morissette - The first includes to-the-point do's and don'ts for institutional Web sites and the second focuses on the web as a tool in fundraising and recruiting in higher education.
http://www.mikemccready.ca/blog/ Mike McCready of Lethbridge College in Canada shares his experience maintaining an institutional Web site and thoughts on social media
http://squaredpeg.com/ Brad Ward's blog on how to embrace technology for higher education recruitment
And, of course, what kind of Stamatite would I be to not include Stamats own higher education marketing blog? http://blog.stamats.com.
That brings me to two questions: 1. How can you NOT be subscribed to several blogs to get a peek into this wealth of information? And 2. How do you not use Google Reader to stay sane?
These are really just the tip of the iceberg (I said I was done with analogies, not clichés). BlogHigherEd is a great resource which aggregates several quality blogs.
