I've seen in a variety of places and through a variety of sources different research-based 'facts' about running email as part of an overall marketing campaign (e.g. including print, phone, etc.). Specifically regarding email, for example, I've read/heard that sending emails on Tuesday result in much better readership rates than sending on any other day (all else being equal). Another example is to have a subject line that "sells" the email's message - but I've heard conflicting advice as to whether the subject line should be short or long. The problem I've run into is that these miscellaneous facts seem to not be collected or found in a single place.
Anybody out there recommend a source or two of research based email marketing? This would (hopefully) include advice/research on how to best compose an email (e.g. long? short? HTML? text only?), when to send, etc.?
Thanks.
