Technology to actually increase your website productivity

I'm curious if anybody has had any particular luck implementing any new technologies on their site that they would say has actually increased the productivity of your site. For example, maybe you have recently implemented a new JavaScript library which has both reduced the amount of time you are spending on coding (allowing you to spend time on other tasks) and has at the same time maybe improved the usability experience of your audience.
