I'm the Director of Web Communication & Strategic Projects at the
State University of New York at New Paltz. I've worked there for nearly 11 years, originally as the college's first Web Editor, then their Web Coordinator, and have been in my current position for the last three years.
My job, as you can probably tell from my title, is a bit of a catch all. I supervise the
Web Management Office staff -- a Senior Web Producer and Web Production Assistant. I am responsible for our overall online strategy, new Web initiatives, and use of social media. I work closely with the Director of On Campus Recruitment in the Office of Undergraduate Admission on eRecruiting initiatives.
I manage the college's
Welcome Center and the student staff that work there, and most recently have been charged with starting a new
Distinguished Speakers Series for the President's office. My first event is 4 days after I return from #stamats08, so forgive me if I'm a little frazzled during the conference!
I'm my "spare" time, I lead the college's
emergency communication planning, training, and implementation efforts.
Outside of work, I'm a little more than half way through the
MBA program at the State University of New York at New Paltz, concentrating on marketing and management. I expect to graduate in May '10. I have my bachelors degree in Organizational Communication with a minor in marketing from the same college. This past summer I did an independent study research project on the use of social media in higher education and
published my paper on .eduGuru.
